Temporary Vehicle Movement Permits
Need a temporary movement permit? You may obtain a temporary permit in three ways:
Light Vehicles:

- Visit a Department of Transport Vehicle Services Centre in person.
Modification permit: $73.80
(Required before a mod inspection can be completed). Includes Third Party Insurance, Vehicle Licence Duty and GST.

Any Light Vehicles
(4, 500kg or less)
- Caravan and trailer (without brakes), motorcycle, motor carrier
Initial examination fee: $150.00
- Caravan and trailer (without brakes), motorcycle, motor carrier
Re-examination fee: $119.25
- Any other light Vehicle, SCV, Caravan and Trailer (with brakes)
Initial examination fee: $187.90
- Any other light Vehicle, SCV, Caravan and Trailer (with brakes)
Re-examination fee: $124.00
Perth - General vehicle examination fees
- Engine change:
$116.00
- Minor examination fee (verification of vehicle details only): $133.45
Goods and Services Tax (GST) removed for vehicle examination fees from 5 October, 2013.
All Vehicle Examination fees are set by the Department of Transport and will apply from July 1st 2023.
